Here are a few of the creatures of Planet Copius that appear in the book! I had a professional help me with the sketches, and they turned out beautifully.

Acera

(uh-KEH-ruh)

  • Wingspan can reach up to 18ft.
  • Diet: bugs and small animals
  • Facts: based on my love of frogs and Toothless from How to Train your Dragon. The main creature humans use to fight back against the giants.

Thornopine Burrower

  • Can get up to 10ft tall.
  • Diet: plants and berries
  • Facts: the spines on their bodies are poisonous and deadly to humans if pricked too hard.

Narecon

(nuh-RAY-ken)

  • Wingspan of up to 20ft.
  • Diet: small and medium animals (sometimes humans)
  • Facts: wild species are brown, but the black species are specially bred by capaemen to be hunting animals.

Styfisher

(STAI-fish-ur)

  • Adults grow up to 30ft tall.
  • Diet: river weeds and fish
  • Facts: based on ducks and behaves a lot like them too.

Phypent

(FAI-pent)

  • Can grow up to 25ft long.
  • Diet: small to medium animals (sometimes humans)
  • Facts: is shown in a lot of imagery in Clan Rostad’s culture. Represents overcoming adversity through stealth.

Leomus

(lee-O-mus)

  • Stands up to 8ft tall on all fours.
  • Diet: small to medium animals (rarely humans)
  • Facts: based on a lion and mouse combined. To capaemen, it is like a mouse.

Dreosaur

  • Can grow up to 200ft tall (largest land creature on Copius)
  • Diet: large plants
  • Facts: forest variants are half the size, at 100ft
  • Can camouflage into its environment with the fake moss on its back.
  • Has a short film dedicated to it!
